Welcoming Dr Lisa Graham to LYC!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce the appointment of Lisa Graham as the new Conductor of LYC Chamber Choir!

Following an extensive international search to find an energetic, creative, and inspiring leader for our most senior choir, Lisa stood out as the dynamic conductor ready to take our Chamber Choir to the next level.

A World-Class Career Across the Globe

Lisa joins us with more than three decades of artistic leadership spanning top-tier higher education, professional ensembles, and major performing arts organisations across the US and the UK.

For 24 years, she served as the Evelyn Barry Director of Choral Programmes at the prestigious Wellesley College in the US, leading international tours across Europe, Asia, and North America – and even featuring in the Hollywood film Mona Lisa Smile!

For 20 seasons as Music Director of the Metropolitan Chorale in Boston, Lisa championed diverse repertoires ranging from contemporary masterpieces to timeless choral classics. Her impressive career also includes:

• Over a decade collaborating with the Boston Pops (including cover conductor for Keith Lockhart)

• Preparing choruses for the Boston Symphony Orchestra

• A 10-year association with the Handel and Haydn Society

• Recent high-profile debuts with MassOpera and the Boston Ballet

She holds both Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Choral Music from the University of Southern California, has served as President of the National Collegiate Choral Organisation (NCCO), and in 2021 was awarded the prestigious American Prize Dale Warland Award for Choral Conducting.

Beyond her extraordinary CV, what makes Lisa such a natural fit for LYC is her passion for developing young musicians. Known for combining technical precision with warmth, humour, and collaborative artistry, her rehearsal style creates an environment where singers are encouraged to listen deeply, think creatively, and truly take ownership of the music.

Now based full-time in London, Lisa brings her global expertise, infectious energy, and collaborative spirit straight to the heart of the London Youth Choirs family.
