Meet the 24-25 LYC Chamber Choir
SOPRANOS

Alyza
Alyza is in Year 12, studying Music, Maths, Biology and Chemistry A-levels, and attending Junior Guildhall on Saturdays as a joint first study singer and pianist. Alyza also enjoys playing the violin, and is part of the National Youth Training Choir (15-18), while also leading a choral group in her school.

Arwen
Arwen is a 3rd year Classical Harp scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She enjoys performing a wide spectrum of music, particularly within Social Arts and orchestral contexts, as well as arranging and composing for her folk band ‘Lydia Laughing’. LYCC has been integral in enabling Arwen to pursue her love of both choral and close harmony singing.

Francesca
Francesca is a first year undergraduate student at the Royal Academy of Music, BMus (Voice) taught by Catherine Wyn-Rogers and Benjamin Mead. Francesca also plays flute and piano and enjoys music of all genres from Baroque to Taylor Swift! Francesca has sung with the National Youth Choir for many years and has also competed in many music festivals winning many awards and accolades. Francesca is also a dancer and has performed on many stages across the UK.

Jasmine
Jasmine is currently in year 13 studying music, maths and economics. As well as London Youth Chamber Choir, she is a member of National Youth Choir and of St Michael and All Angels Choir (Barnes). Jasmine also enjoys doing pop gigs on the side in restaurants and pubs. After sixth form, she hopes to study economics.

Jasmine
Jasmine is a first-year undergraduate student studying Actuarial Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She enjoys choral singing and is a member of several choirs, including the National Youth Choir. Alongside her studies, she loves attending live concerts and has a passion for travelling, with dreams of exploring much of Europe.

Kate
Kate is in year 13 studying Music, History, Maths and Further Maths, and hopes to study Music and Maths at university. Apart from singing she is a trombone player but also loves to play bass guitar for school concerts!

Lizzie
ALTOS

Claudia
Claudia is in Upper Sixth, studying maths, chemistry and geography a level. She has always loved singing alongside the violin, bass guitar and clarinet. Claudia thinks LYC is a fantastic community to be a part of and loves the opportunities it gives to young singers.

Darcy
Darcy is in year 13, studying Philosophy, Maths and Physics in sixth form, hoping to do a degree in Philosophy at university. As well as singing, she also enjoys playing the violin and piano, having previously studied at Junior Trinity Laban, and performed with groups such as the Chineke! Junior Orchestra and National Youth Choir. She is also passionate about acting, and is currently learning at the part-time Identity School of Acting.

Emily
Emily is currently studying for a Master’s in Dance Performance at Trinity Laban. She loves singing and listening to music, especially choral music and Jazz. In her spare time she likes adventuring outdoors such as scuba diving, roller blading, juggling and skiing.

Jamie
Jamie is currently in year 12 studying maths, further maths, biology and chemistry. He loves all sorts music from Rachmaninoff to Loyle Carner to Radiohead. He is also a keen organist, as well as a countertenor.

Jenny

Josephine
Josephine is a music student at Kings College London. She is also a member of the National Youth Choir 18-25 and Choral Scholar at the Crown Court Church of Scotland. At university, she is the President of the Opera Society and frequently takes part in their productions. In her spare time, Josephine is a keen member of the European Youth Parliament, and has organised competitions for young people across the UK.

Felix
Felix is currently in his last year of Sixth Form studying History, Economics, English, and Spanish. In addition to singing, he enjoys language learning and debating and wishes to carry both of these passions alongside singing at university next year.

Jacy
Jacy is a musician and composer, currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. As well as singing, he plays piano, flute, clarinet and saxophone. He also is an arranger and orchestrator. Jacy has always loved to sing, particularly musical theatre and pop styles, and is now exploring classical and choral singing. Jacy loves listening to jazz and jazz-influenced styles of music, such as r&b, hip-hop, funk and soul.

James
James is currently in Year 12 studying Music, Drama and Economics. In addition to singing, James sometimes play the trombone and the organ, and also likes to play rugby.

Olly
Originally from Plymouth, Olly moved to London in 2022 to study Pharmaceutical Chemistry at QMUL. He has sung for the Devon County Junior Choir and Buckfast Abbey Choir, as well as being a National Youth Choir member since 2015. Aside from music and studies, Olly has a passion for skiing and is a member of his university’s Snowsports society.
BASSES

Anton
Anton is in Year 13 and is currently studying German, History, Politics and Maths at Harris Westminster Sixth Form. As well as singing, Anton plays the trombone and loves reading about history.

Felix
Age 18, Felix has been a member of LYC since 2015. Based in north west London, Felix is in the National Youth Choir (15-18) and also plays the piano. Felix is currently in sixth form and studies maths, physics and geography.

Pavlo
Pavlo Petrychenko is an award-winning film composer, pianist, and singer whose life and artistry have been profoundly shaped by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. With a passion for crafting emotionally resonant and memorable music, Pavlo honed his skills under the influence of Hollywood composers, orchestrators, and conductors. Pavlo recently won the prestigious Dr. Mathew Knowles Competition 2024, judged by Beyoncé’s father, Dr. Mathew Knowles.
