Meet the 24-25 Young Leaders Collective

The Young Leaders Collective (YLC) is a group of young people in London Youth Choir and LYC Chamber Choir who meet regularly throughout the year to discuss LYC, and to learn about charity governance and careers in the arts.

Aphra

Aphra is currently in year 12 studying a level 3 extended diploma in music, and also plays the trumpet. She has sung in many choirs and particularly loves A Capella.

Claudia

Claudia’s go to when asked about hobbies is always music and singing. While she enjoys the bass or the violin, singing has always been a large part of her life, from solo performing to being part of many different choirs. LYC has been a really special part of this and so she is super grateful to be part of YLC, doing our part to move it forward!

DAVID

David is an ambitious young man, passionate about music and making a difference. He’s a percussionist, pianist, and a choral singer and loves performing and creating! He’s committed to leadership, community impact, and aiming to inspire others through work across multiple fields, from music to politics.

Frances

Frances is a Year 12 student studying History, English, Latin and Art. She participates in a lot of choral singing in and out of school and play piano and violin as well. She loves to play with her three cats and paint in her free time.

Giorgio

Giorgio is now in his second year in London Youth Chamber Choir, having joined the choirs in the 2023/24 year.

Hannah

Hannah is in Year 12. She’s been in London Youth Choirs for the past 6 years and loves it! She’s currently studying A Level Music and is also in NYCGB’s 15-18 year old choir.

jenny

Jenny is currently studying Vocal Studies at Trinity Laban and also is a current member of the London Youth Chamber Choir. In her spare time, Jenny likes to bake and FaceTime her family all the way up in the Lake District (including her two cats!).

julia

Julia is in her second year of BMus Vocal Studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is also a member of their Chamber Choir. In her free time Julia loves to crochet, bake and travel with friends.

Mary

Mary is currently studying maths, drama and English language. Mary mostly sings now but has played instruments in the past and also used to crochet!

Noa

Noa is am honoured to represent LYC choirs again and says, “If you see me around come and have a chat!”. She studies Sociology at UCL. Her favourite way to relax is reading with a cup of hot chocolate and jazz in the background, otherwise, she likes producing music or composing her own.

Orla

Orla currently sings in London Youth Choir having formerly been part of LYC Cambiata Girls.

Tia

Tia has just finished her third year of a bachelors degree for mechanical engineering. Tia enjoys a very large range of music and is open to listening to anything because she loves it so much. Additionally, Tia dedicates herself to learning how to play the guitar and produce music in her free time.
