No Barriers Appeal is open!

This Christmas, our No Barriers Appeal is aiming to raise £85,000 to ensure that taking part in LYC is possible for any young Londoner, regardless of their families’ ability to pay. Thanks to The Big Give, every donation made between 1-8 December is being doubled – donate today!

Since LYC began in 2012, we’ve insisted that choral singing must be available to every young Londoner, regardless of background or circumstances. Cost is a huge barrier to participation for many families, and LYC works tirelessly to raise funds and support to ensure that financial assistance can be offered to any member who needs it.

We’ve also worked to extend our reach by founding new LYC choirs in the outer boroughs, most recently in Ealing. And despite Covid-19 and lockdown, we’ve enabled every LYC member to keep singing in 2020 through the launch of our LYC Live platform, enabling weekly virtual choir practice, social activities and pastoral support – and filming for our 2020 Festive Concert.

Our No Barriers Appeal supports all of this activity and work, now and into the future. Between 1-8 December we’re aiming to raise £85,000 – and thanks to The Big Give we’re potentially half way there!

Between 1-8 December The Big Give will ensure that every donation made to our No Barriers Appeal is matched pound for pound by The Childhood Trust and a group of generous supporters. So we have “just” £42,500 to raise! It’s a huge target, but we’re determined to hit it – and Gift Aid means that an individual donation of just £20 can be worth £45. Find out more on our campaign page.

To raise awareness and have a little fun with the appeal, we’ll be posting some musical updates to our social media channels – so stay tuned and please consider supporting with a donation if you are able!
