LYC is a registered charity and a member of the Fundraising Regulator. We are incredibly grateful for all the donations that we receive and recognise that without them, we would not be able to operate. We strive to remain transparent with you, and accountable to you, whether you have donated, pledged a legacy or supported in another way. You are our community, and we value you.

Our communications

Our communications are a vital tool in welcoming you into our community and updating you on our work. You are always in control of what we send you. We will seek your consent to send you information and you can always opt out.

If you feel that our communication is either too frequent or not enough, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We want to put you in charge of the relationship that you have with us.

Your information

We take your privacy seriously. We will never sell on your data.  Our systems are protected and cleaned regularly.

For more information on how we collect and use personal information, please read our Privacy Policy.

Raising a concern

We love having you as part of our community and we strive to make your relationship with us as joyful as possible. From time to time something may go wrong. We are always here to help and will always work to put things right as quickly as we can.

If you have a concern about our methods of fundraising or communication or if something has gone awry, please get in touch with our Fundraising and Communications Director, Nicolette Shaw: [email protected]. We commit to investigating your issue and coming back to you with a response within three days or sooner.

If you have a concern that does not relate to fundraising or communications please do not hesitate to get in touch with our CEO, Nina Camilleri, at [email protected].

Please see our full Complaints Policy here.

Vulnerable Donors

LYC welcomes donations from everyone. We recognise that some donors may be vulnerable. We will mark someone as vulnerable if any of the following circumstances apply:

  • The donor has indicated that they are vulnerable
  • The fundraiser suspects that the donor is vulnerable in any way
  • A relative or carer alerts us

In those circumstances we will mark the donor as vulnerable and not seek any further support from them.

We recognise that this is a highly sensitive matter. We may take further advice from the Regular and /or Charity Commission if the situation warrants it.

Ethical Fundraising Policy

The Board of Trustees of London Youth Choirs has overall responsibility to ensure that decisions are made in the best interest of the charity and our beneficiaries. This includes responsibility to “know your donor” and carry out appropriate and proportionate due diligence and risk assessment related to acceptance of gifts.

The policy outlines London Youth Choirs’ ethical approach to philanthropic funding and partnerships and aims to make our approach transparent. Whilst the vast majority of support is extremely welcome, there may be instances where the reputation and operation of the charity needs to be protected from claims of impropriety.

Please see our Ethical Fundraising Policy here.

For further information on any of these policies please contact Nicolette Shaw, Director of Fundraising & Communications: [email protected]
